Supfit.lv is organizing International Surfing Association (ISA) Level 1 SUP Instructor and International Life Saving (ILS) water rescue courses in Riga this June.
The courses will be led by certified ISA course presenter Andy Joyce from the UK.

The ISA SUP instructor certificate is recognized in over 100 ISA member countries. In Latvia, the ISA SUP certificate is also automatically recognized by the Latvian Surfing and SUP Federation (LSSF) when applying for any level of SUP coach certification.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The ISA Level 1 Flatwater SUP (FWSUP) Instructor works with beginners in calm/flat water, teaching basic SUP skills, including:
- Introduction to equipment and beach safety
- Safe handling of the SUP board
- Standing up and starting to paddle
- Proper paddling technique while lying down, kneeling, and standing
This course equips instructors with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach in a safe and professional manner.
COURSE GOAL
The aim is to provide new skills to enthusiasts and industry professionals, ensuring certified instructors can offer high-quality and safe SUP services to clients.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
This course is intended for individuals:
- Aged 16+
- With SUP experience
- Interested in teaching beginner SUP techniques
Fitness Test Requirements
Participants must complete:
- 200m run in under 1 minute
- 400m swim in open water or a pool in under 10 minutes
Recommended preparation:
Before the course, participants should aim to swim 200m in a 25m+ pool within 5 minutes, confirmed by a coach, instructor, or pool representative.
Additionally, English language proficiency is required.

COURSE SCHEDULE
The exact schedule will be provided before the course, but expect 4 full training days:
- Indoor theory sessions (Rimi Olympic Center, Grostonas iela 6, Riga)
- Outdoor practical sessions, including water training (location in Riga will depend on weather conditions)

- June 12-13: Level 1 Flatwater SUP (FWSUP) instructor training

COURSE FEES
- June 10-11 (ILS/ISA rescue course): €320 (€295 early payment)
- June 12-13 (FWSUP course): €440 (€395 early payment)
- Full package (FWSUP + ILS courses):
- €690 if paid by April 14, 2025
- €760 from April 15, 2025
Included in the Price:
- ISA International Lifesaving Certificate ($75 USD)
- ISA SUP Flatwater Instructor Certificate ($200 USD)
- ISA certificate renewal fee: $100 USD per year
- Bonus: Participants who complete both FWSUP and ILS courses can attend two free SUP training sessions organized by Supfit.lv on Tuesdays to improve their paddling skills.
ISA certificate must be renewed each year, paying ISA renewal fee: $100 USD per year.
Certification Requirements:
To receive the ISA instructor certificate, participants must complete 20 hours of practical instruction under a certified ISA instructor. These hours must be recorded in a work log and submitted to the course leader.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
The ISA instructor certificate cannot be issued without a valid first aid and water rescue certificate. However, it does not have to be an ISA/ILS certificate.
If you already have a valid water rescue and first aid certificate, you only need the 2-day instructor course, and the total fee will be adjusted accordingly.
